A realistic polar bear worked in black stone. At 8.7 inches and 3352 g it wants a shelf of its own rather than a desk corner.

A natural stone worked in the round, its colour and pattern formed over geological time rather than applied. Whatever markings the block carried run right through it.

The difficulty in an animal figure is mass rather than detail: getting the shoulder, haunch and neck to carry weight convincingly while staying within the block the carver started from.
