We carve every piece we sell.
Nicedony is the direct storefront of our own carving workshop in Fujian, China. Over 100 carvers, natural stone only, and nobody standing between the rough block and your hands.
Solid natural stone. Nothing else.
The crystal carving market is full of dyed agate, pressed powder, resin and moulded glass. Here is exactly what we do and don't do.
- Natural rough onlyCut from a solid piece of natural stone. Never reconstituted, pressed or glass.
- Never dyed or treatedNo dye and no chemical treatment. The colour is the stone's own.
- Carved from one blockNo glue, no bonded-on parts, no seams hidden under the polish.
- Cut by hand, not mouldedShaped at the wheel by our carvers. No two pieces come out identical.
From rough block to finished carving
Nine stages, all under one roof in Fujian. A detailed skull spends weeks moving between these benches before it is allowed to leave.
- 01

Designing
Every new form is drawn and modelled before a single stone is cut.
- 02

Selecting
Rough is graded block by block for colour, clarity, and whether the material will hold a fine edge.
- 03

Cutting
The block is trimmed to the rough proportions of the piece, working around inclusions and fractures.
- 04

Shaping
The basic mass is ground out — the dome of a skull, the line of a jaw, the stance of an animal.
- 05

Carving
Detail work at the wheel: eye sockets, teeth, brow, nasal cavity. This is the step that takes years to learn.
- 06

Polishing
Progressive grits, then a long tumble and hand finish that brings the depth and lustre out of the stone.
- 07

Inspecting
Every piece is checked in hand for chips, cracks, dull spots and symmetry before it is accepted.
- 08

Packing
Each carving is wrapped and boxed on its own, padded for the distance it has to travel.
- 09

Shipping
Dispatched from our own stock. We hold inventory in the United States and Germany as well as China.

Led by a National First-Class Art Master
Design and development here is headed by Steven Zhou, a National First-Class Art Master and jewellery master who joined us to lead new work.
His training is in traditional Chinese jade carving, which sits deliberately at odds with what he is asked to make — skulls, dragons, ravens, phoenixes. That tension is the reason our catalogue does not look like everyone else's: it is drawn and cut here rather than picked from the same handful of moulds circulating the trade.
Around him works a team of more than 100 carvers. A good number of them have been at the wheel for over ten years.

We buy rough, not finished goods
Most crystal shops buy carvings that are already made and photograph them. We buy the stone.
We hold direct access to the remaining reserve of Turkish blue chalcedony and have worked alongside the mine owner for over a decade to develop it. Everything else — amethyst, obsidian, fluorite, lapis lazuli, red jasper, rose quartz, crazy lace agate — is imported as rough under our own licence and cut in our workshop.
Buying at the rough stage is why we can tell you precisely what a piece is made of. It is also why we can offer materials that sellers working from a supplier catalogue simply cannot get hold of.
The company behind the carvings
Nicedony is the direct-to-collector brand of Fujian Yuchenglin Jewelry Co., Ltd., founded in Shenzhen in 2011 and based in Zhangzhou, Fujian since 2021. We hold ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification and have carried our own import and export licence since 2012 — which is why every carving on this site can be traced back to the bench it was made on.

Have something carved for you
Because the workshop is ours, we can carve to order: your own design, a specific material, a size that does not exist in the catalogue, or a piece cut from a particular block of rough you have picked out.
Tell us what you have in mind and we will come back with what is possible, what it will cost, and how long it will take.
