A quartz rock druse geode skull with horn worked in agate white cluster. At 6 inches and 2240 g it wants a shelf of its own rather than a desk corner.

Agate is banded chalcedony — silica that filled a cavity in layers over a very long period. Those bands are a growth record, so a cut surface is always a cross-section through something that formed slowly.

Carving a skull around an open crystal pocket means the void decides the composition — the carver works toward the cavity and lets it fall where the stone allows, rather than placing it.
