Every carving is cut from its own block of rough. The photographs on this page show the exact piece you will receive — not a sample from the same batch.
Natural stone, untreated
100% natural stone, never dyed or reconstituted. Veins, inclusions and small shifts in colour are how the material formed; they are marks of origin rather than faults.
Carved by hand
Cut, shaped and polished by hand. Proportions differ a little from piece to piece because each one follows the block it came out of.
Checked and packed
Hand-inspected before dispatch and shipped in shockproof packaging.
What Is Kept Inside
Geodes are traditionally associated with what a person holds privately rather than what they show, and are said to be reminders that the interior is where the structure actually is.
Turn the opening toward yourself rather than toward the room.
Patience, Literally
The banding is a record of very slow accumulation. Traditionally the stone is read as an argument for gradual work over sudden effort.
Keep it where you do the work that takes years.
Catching What Enters
The crystal interior throws light differently at every hour, which is why geodes are so often placed where daylight moves.
Set it so the opening faces a window rather than a wall.
Letting Something In
In folk practice an open geode is placed in rooms that have felt closed, on the reasoning that a stone with an opening keeps one.
Place it in the room you avoid sitting in.
Why We Carve Into Geodes
Carving a skull around an open crystal pocket means letting the void decide the composition. The cavity was there long before the carver was, and the form has to be built around what the stone was already hiding.
Set it so the opening catches a light source; the interior is the point.
