See how we make them

An elf alien in amazonite at 2.9 inches — small enough to close a hand around.

Amazonite is a feldspar, not a quartz, and it behaves differently under the tool: it cleaves along flat internal planes instead of fracturing. The white streaking through the blue-green is a second feldspar grown into the first, which is why the pattern looks woven rather than banded.

Figure work asks for restraint — the face carries the whole piece, and overworking it is easier than underworking it. Drapery and hands are where the carving hours actually go.

  • One of a kind

Every carving is cut from its own block of rough. The photographs on this page show the exact piece you will receive — not a sample from the same batch.

  • Natural stone, untreated

100% natural stone, never dyed or reconstituted. Veins, inclusions and small shifts in colour are how the material formed; they are marks of origin rather than faults.

  • Carved by hand

Cut, shaped and polished by hand. Proportions differ a little from piece to piece because each one follows the block it came out of.

  • Checked and packed

Hand-inspected before dispatch and shipped in shockproof packaging.

The Material

Amazonite — The Honest Answer

Named for a river it was never found in, kept for saying the thing without the softening.

Amazonite carries one of mineralogy's more persistent misnomers. It was named after the Amazon on the strength of green stones reportedly traded there, but no deposit of it has ever been confirmed in the basin. The name stuck anyway, which is a very human outcome for a stone associated with truth-telling.

It is a feldspar rather than a quartz, and it cleaves along flat internal planes instead of fracturing. The white streaking through the blue-green is a second feldspar grown into the first, which is why the pattern looks woven rather than banded.

Saying It Without the Padding
Plain Speech

Saying It Without the Padding

Amazonite is traditionally associated with the throat and with honest speech — believed to support saying the difficult thing directly rather than at length.

Hold it before the conversation you have been rehearsing.

Where You Stop
Boundary Stone

Where You Stop

Folk practice links it with knowing and stating a limit, which is a different skill from stating an opinion.

Keep it where you agree to things — the desk, the phone.

Cutting Through
Filtered Noise

Cutting Through

Traditionally credited with separating what matters from surrounding noise, it is a common study and decision companion.

Set it beside whatever you are trying to decide between.

Argument Without Heat
Cool Head

Argument Without Heat

Its association with composure has made it a stone kept in rooms where disagreements happen rather than in quiet ones.

Place it on the table when the discussion starts, not after.

Why We Carve Alien & Elf Skulls
The Form

Why We Carve Alien & Elf Skulls

Reaching beyond human anatomy into the speculative and otherworldly, these elongated skulls invoke ancient myth and cosmic mystery. Carvers focus on smooth, swept crowns and deep orbital contours.

Kept in creative or study spaces to spark imagination and wonder.

Our belief

Cut, not created

We believe a carving should carry the memory of the stone it came from. Every piece is cut from natural material, one at a time, and none of them repeat.
